Question:
How do I set up a private list on Gmail?

I have a large list of email addresses that I send emails to, how do I set up a private list (alias or group) so I can simply refer to it instead of typing them out each time?

Answer:
You can easily create a private list for Gmail using the Gmail Group (list) feature following step-by-step procedure:

1. from the Gmail home page, click the red Mail at the top left, and select "Contacts"to go to the Contacts page

Gmail tips: creat gmail group, step 1

2. from the Gmail Contacts page, click on "New Group..."

3. Enter name of your group (e.g., "My Fmaily"), and click OK:

4. Select the name of your group (e.g., "My Family"):

5. Click on the "Plus guy" to enter email addresses for this group:

Separate email addresses by ",", and click "Add" when finished:

Google will show you the list of email addresses added to the group:

You are done! The group has been created.

You can go back to Gmail. Whenever you compose an email, you can enter the group name in the "To" field, and it will automatically show up in the type-ahead, for example:

when you see it in the type-ahead, just select it, and it will automatically change to the list of email addressed:

This works in the "CC" and "BCC" fields also:
